DRF reports Cedillo has broken neck


Driver Abel Cedillo broke a bone in his neck on July 23 early in the fourth race at Del Mar but won’t need surgery, he told Daily Racing Form.

Cedillo told DRF on July 24 that he is hospitalized but will not need surgery. However, horse riders face physical therapy for four to six weeks.

According to the Equibase chart, Cedillo fell after riding, Get Gold was hit hard right after starting by Silver N Black , causing Get the Gold to shoot balls with opponents and heel and throw Cedillo. Get the Gold has been removed. Silver N Black originally finished fourth but was disqualified for its involvement with Get the Gold.

There was a separate incident at the end of the race that saw the person go first Don’t go against the Fed placed second after the managers determined he drifted in and took second place Cowboy Mike through the eighth pole. Cowboy Mike finished first in the first $84,000 special weight class race at the dirt track one mile.

Cedillo has two wins and two finishes in third place after 15 starts at the current Del Mar meeting, well-deserved earnings of $77,220. He won his second race on Sunday, a claim event, on board Colonel Vargo . A native of Guatemala, Cedillo has competed in Southern California since 2019. He boasts 25 graded bet wins, including 5 at level 1.
