Dodge Hornet revealed in spy photos

A little Avoid Hornets have been caught in spy photos, and it gives us our best look yet at the SUV. The front is very clear based on the current Dodge Durango and Charger. But the rest of it is essentially unchanged from the Alfa it is based on.

As expected from the first leak of the Hornet, the nose uses familiar Dodge design cues. It swaps out the shield-shaped Alfa grille for a split upper grille and large lower intakes. The lower wing is prominent and sharp. The headlights have been reshaped to blend in with the grille and they feature a different daytime running light design. We can also make small fake vents in the hood to make the hood sound from the High Efficiency Charger.

The rest of the Hornet is clearly similar to Alfa Romeo. The shape, the windows, the doors, the lapels on both sides are the same. And on this prototype, the taillights are even the same. We hope that, at the very least, Dodge will add a unique taillight design to help complete the rebranding job. It will likely feature the “Racing” LED design found on the Charger and State of Durango Mexico.

Hornets will reported to be revealed this August. It will come with the same powertrains as its Alfa twin, which means a regular turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder or a dip into the mixture turbo 1.3 liter four cylinder. It can even get a 1.3-liter non-hybrid turbocharged engine as a lower-priced option.
