Disney Speedstorm Reveals New “Modified Multiplayer” Competitive Mode

Kart racers can be fun, but sometimes they’re really unfair when you’re outplayed by some higher level opponent or item that you can’t even defend yourself. Disney’s Speed Storm aims to give riders a more level playing field with a new mode called “tuned multiplayer”.

In an update via the official game blog, developer Gameloft explained exactly how this new mode will work. While it is similar to the regular Ranked Multiplayer mode, there are some “very important differences”. All racers in this mode have the same Upgrade Level, Star Level and inactive teams.

“These parameters ensure that all drivers are on a level playing field and pure racing skill determines the outcome of the race! It is important to note that while Racing Teams are disabled in this mode, you can still customize your racer and kart appearance!”

As explained, this means that each race will turn to “pure racing skill”. Rankings, Tournaments and Scores in this mode are replaced with regulated Multiplayer Scores – and your placement determines how many points you earn for each race. These points will help you pass important milestones, which in return will grant rewards – such as coins and cosmetics.

In terms of pairing in this mode, it’s entirely based on your specified Multiplayer Score – with a “system” created to match players with similar Specs Points.
