Kim Kardashian meets Kamala Harris at the White House


Kim Kardashian recently sat down with Vice President Kamala Harris to discuss judicial reform.

According to the Associated Press, K met at a roundtable on Thursday (April 25) to also discuss the Biden administration’s efforts to extend second chances for convicts.

Meeting

The AP reported that President Biden pardoned 16 non-violent drug offenders earlier this week. These individuals received sentences that were much longer than they would have received under today’s law. Four of those who received clemency were invited to the White House: Jason Hernandez, Beverly Robinson, Jesse Monsley and Bobby Lowery.

They met with Kim, Kamala and Steve Benjamin, director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. Individuals expressed how deeply moved they were when they heard the good news. Additionally, they shared their career goals, which include establishing nonprofit organizations and real estate ventures.

Kim and Kamala’s views on clemency

The reality star said she “be honored” to hear their stories and express that “It’s important to amplify them.”

The Vice President expressed to the attendees that she believes “redeem.”

The former prosecutor continued, “…everyone makes mistakes, and for some, it can become a crime.”

Harris asked rhetorically whether society should allow convicts “find your way back” And “give them the support and resources they need to do that.”

Kim’s judicial reform

The SKIMS CEO first appeared at the White House during the Trump administration in 2018. Jared Kushner joined Kardashian at that time. They support criminal justice reform, according to CNN.

Kim convinced Trump to commute Alice Marie Johnson’s life sentence. She was jailed for 20 years for a non-violent drug crime. However, she was released in June 2018. Furthermore, she was fully pardoned by former President Trump in 2020, according to CNN.

Things seem to have turned sour between Kimmie and Donnie. Recently he called her “the world’s most highly rated celebrity,” according to The Daily Beast.

Kardashian responded during an appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ earlier this week, according to ABC News. She stated, “…he has done great things in prison reform” And “Let more people out,” so she chooses “focus on” that thing.
