Dillian Whyte wants a few more matches against the ‘best’ and then plans to retire.
The 34-year-old from Brixton first plans to rest with his family after suffering his third loss of his career on Saturday night to WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. Whyte was knocked down in the sixth round but says the big games are still there for him.
“Listen, win, lose or draw on Saturday, I’ll have a few more games against the best and then retire. I still want to do the same thing. Nothing has changed,” Whyte told Sky Sports.
“The opportunity is still there. I’m still one of the best fighters around. ”
The heavyweight umpire has announced that he has an argument for a rematch after criticizing the push from Fury he received after the knockout punch, as well as moderating from referee Mark Lyson. However, Fury’s co-promoter Frank Warren turned down any suggestions when speaking to Talksport yesterday.
WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said that former champion Deontay Wilder would return this year, while Fury said the American should fight for the vacant title after retiring. Whyte and Wilder have been involved in a fight against each other in the past with the British particularly criticizing ‘The Bronze Bomber’.
Whyte said: “I don’t know what Wilder is doing. “I just need to get back, and I want to fight all the people I lost again and try to avenge my losses.”
