BYD Shark: Announcing the first official images of the Hybrid ute
The BYD Shark It’s due out on May 14 (Mexico time) and the company has now given us our clearest look yet at the brand’s first ute.
While the company has previously teased the Shark’s front-end design, complete with C-shaped headlights and a light bar above the grille with a prominent BYD badge, these images were posted on Facebook. BYD’s Instagram account is our first high-res look at the undisguised ute.
As we saw in previous spy shots, the Shark has a regular three-box shape. There are black A, B and C pillars to create a floating roof look, black plastic also features on the bumpers, door sills and wheel arch guards.
The Shark’s latest social media post touts the ute’s on-road capabilities, claiming its DMO plug-in hybrid powertrain will “leave range anxiety behind and [allow drivers’ to] Enjoy the journey of discovery.”
Unfortunately, BYD hasn’t posted any images of the Shark’s interior, but previously unauthorized photos of the cabin suggest it will have a center console-mounted gearshift lever, toggle switches, and more. processor, independent digital instrument cluster and rotatable infotainment screen.
