During Monday’s press conference in New York City to promote their September 17 fight, Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin once again made it clear that they really don’t like each other. Advertiser Eddie Hearn started things off by giving Golovkin the chance to go back to some of the negative things he said about Canelo in the past. “I would never say I didn’t say what I said,” Golovkin replied simply. “September 17”order Next time, whatever work is unfinished, we will meet in the ring and solve it. ”

As for Canelo, the honest man looked as if he was holding back his rage. “I think this time was different,” he said, seemingly referring to the press conference. “This is who I am. I’m not trying to be someone else. That’s why I’m acting like this.” However, Canelo is willing to give credit when he thinks it’s due. “He was a good fighter, he said of Golovkin,” there is no doubt. ” Canelo then goes on to point out what he seems to see as the difference between himself and Golovkin. “I’m willing to risk something to get what I want,” he said.

Sure enough, Canelo is saying that he will stop Golovkin in this third battle. It is understandable. Canelo-Golovkin’s first match ended in a controversial draw, as many, if not most, felt Golovkin had done enough to earn the referee’s nod. Their second fight saw the umpires give Canelo an outright victory – which was again controversial. Add this to the fact that many boxing fans feel Canelo gets too much love from referees in general, and it’s clear why Canelo – who regularly challenges himself in the ring – wants end the matter unequivocally on September 17.

“That is my goal for this fight,” he said, “and I am very confident because he will know I am different… I am at my peak right now.” Whatever one can say about the previous two matches between Canelo and Golovkin, they were nothing if not high quality. Reading or listening to Canelo’s words, it’s hard to escape the impression that he’s willing to risk his own knock this time for a chance to knock Golovkin out. It is bold indeed. “I don’t want this fight to go far,” Canelo said. “I wish September 17th was today.” He’s certainly not alone.
