Designer Virgil Abloh dies of cancer
Designer Virgil Abloh has sadly passed away from cancer.
His family posted the news on the late fashion icon’s Instagram.
“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Virgil Abloh, an intensely devoted father, husband, son, brother and friend. He is survived by his loving wife. loves Shannon Abloh, his children Lowe Abloh and Gray Abloh, his sister Edwina Abloh, his parents Nee and Eunice Abloh, and so many dear friends and colleagues,” the post read.
“For more than two years, Virgil has heroically battled a rare, aggressive form of cancer, a heart hemangioma. He has chosen to endure his battle privately since his diagnosis. in 2019, undergoing several challenging rounds of treatment, all at the same time leading several important organizations related to fashion, art, and culture,” the statement continued.
“Throughout it all, his work ethic, boundless curiosity and optimism never wavered. Virgil is driven by a dedication to the profession and his mission to open doors for others. others and creating paths to greater equality in art and design.He often says, ‘Everything I do is for a 17-year-old version of myself’, deeply believing in the power of art to inspire future generations. We thank you all for your love and support. We ask for privacy as we grieve and honor Virgil’s life.”
Virgil is known for his Off-White label, designs for Louis Vuitton and is a close friend of Kanye West.
