As part of a positive upward stream for the 2022 summer race, Del Mar revealed an enhanced stake schedule that features 39 shares of which more than half are raised above their 2021 purse. Deposits totaled $8.275 million for the 31-day grandstand, the 83rd in the seafront track’s rich history.
Bets go up to $100,000 with six-way Bing Crosby Stakes (G1) on July 30 and 1 1/16-mile Clement L. Hirsch Stakes (G1) on August 6 both up from $300,000 400,000 dollars.
In 2021, the oval’s equity schedule onshore yields a total value of $7.45 million. The race took place later than usual this year after traditionally being in August.
Along with the Pacific Classic will be a 2nd-place trio, all with $300,000 worth of wallets: Del Mar Handicap (G2T) at 1 3/8 mile on grass; Del Mar Mile (G2T) in eight places on grass, and Caesars Sportsbook Del Mar Derby (G2T) at 1/8 mile on grass. Also on the card are $125,000 Shares of Common Confidence at a mile on the main track.
Join the three tier 1 titles already mentioned as three other top tier stakes in the $300,000 Del Mar Oaks (G1T) program on Aug. 20; TVG Del Mar Debutante (G1) $300,000 on September 10 and Runhappy Del Mar Futurity (G1) $300,000 on September 11.
Additionally, the track will offer a three-head betting program on September 10 (TVG Del Mar Debutante, John C. Mabee Stakes, G2T, Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf), and another nine weekends where it scheduled bets for split programs.
Furthermore, Del Mar will also present its usual allotment of eight California hybrid shares, part of a Golden State Series of shares that includes 36 races at the state up and down tracks worth more than $4. ,4 million dollars.
