Dambuster George ‘Johnny’ Johnson celebrates 100th birthday


On 16 and 17 May 1943, a total of 133 Allied crews participated in the key attack on 19 Lancaster bombers, carrying specially modified Barnes Wallis bombs – which looked like as “honored trash cans,” in the words of Mr Johnson – led by Wing Commander. Guy Gibson.
