Dairy Still Kills: Successful National Action Day!
What a wonderful weekend! Ours #DairyStillKills National Action Day went as well as we could have expected. Firstly, thank you very much to every animal rights group and activist who participated that day, along with the dozens of people who dropped out our flyers over the weekend. And of course, to everyone who has supported our campaign, shared our content online, and even told their friends and family about our heartbreaking findings. .
We sent out almost 20,000 flyers across the UK, plus 630 flyers and 126 posters!
On Saturday, September 11, TWENTY events took place across England, Scotland and Wales, Reach thousands of consumers on the street! We joined Animal Rights Leicester for their event where we launched our brand new custom milk carton! Did you see it on our social media?
For our National Action Day, we’ve been working closely over the past few months with a company specializing in assistive devices in East London. The idea behind the construction is to highlight The ‘NEW Dirty Secret’ of the Dairy Industry. Designed to resemble a traditional American milk carton, the exterior artwork utilizes a cheerful cow animation, commonly used in industry marketing propaganda, but with a negative, unsettling message. about the brutal reality of the dairy industry.
Inside, there is a hidden surprise! One of the dairy company’s hidden ‘slaughter calves’, which are slaughtered for their skins, barbecue and dog food, as well as for export throughout Europe. They are the ‘rejectors’ of the dairy and beef industries. Our undercover investigation, earlier this year, revealed that almost 65,000 male milk calves, less than a month old, were killed inside British slaughterhouses in 2020.
This tragic reality of these poor calves must be told and with your help, we did it!
Design included ‘industrial ingredients’, the latest valuation of the UK dairy industry – £4.43 billion – plus the new fate of de-milked male calves.
The milk carton took weeks to make and with a few tweaks in the making, we’re extremely pleased with the results. We hope that you do too! It is your donations that fund such powerful and effective tools for our outreach events and allow us to show people why they must stop. consume animal products and choose to be vegan. You are helping to make a big difference on UK streets!
The prop is modeled on a young male dairy calf we met at G. & GB Hewitt, Cheshire, during our undercover Dairy Still Kills investigation earlier this year.
We wanted to create a legacy for these poor calves who met such a tragic and terrible end. Something that no baby has to face. We hope that his story can help save other calves from such a dire fate.
The Animal Justice Project would like to give a special ‘thank you’ to each local, grassroots animal rights group who helped us make this massive National Day of Action a reality!
