Years of pain

Seiler and her family have raised Kemo since he was a puppy. When he was about two years old, in 2013, he was hanging out in a friend’s front yard when he disappeared. Seiler suspects that he was stolen, but she does not want to share her reasons for that assumption publicly.

However, no matter how hard they searched for Kemo, the fang was never found. They spent eight long years wondering where he was and how he was doing.

“We really never stop looking, we always hope, always find the missing pet posts,” says Seiler.

During those eight years, Seiler decided to make a difference in the world. She started an organization called Canine Haven Rescue in Waterloo, Indiana. They help dogs in need find permanent homes while also assisting in finding lost dogs as much as possible. Although Seiler’s search for the dog was unsuccessful, the good news finally arrived.

Patience pays the price!

Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control found Kemo at age 10. He is very healthy but is almost 25 pounds overweight. He still has a microchip, so the shelter was able to reunite him with his family after all these years.

When Kemo meets his self again, it’s like no time has passed. He missed them and loved them despite spending most of his life away from them.

“I never gave up,” Seiler said. “We always make sure his microchip is up to date. I guess I would never give up trying to find him, but I never thought this day would come.”

Where Kemo has been all this time remains a mystery. But of course, his family doesn’t care as long as he stays at home. That’s why Seiler now works so hard to help dog parents in her dog rescue. She knows how incredible the relationship between a human and a dog can be.
