Disabled veteran retires from the air force and opens his own pecans business

After 32-year-old Tim Williams retired from the US Air Force after serving from 2008 to 2020, the disabled Iraq combat veteran decided to move to Georgia to live near his mother.

The property he bought at Kewanee Farms in Byron was filled with 86 pecans. Although he didn’t know anything about pecans when he first arrived in Georgia, he started researching and learning pretty quickly.

Then he decided not to let all these pecans go to waste and started his own pecans business. He buys a pecans sheller and more equipment, hoping to sell his pecans.

He started a processing facility and converted an old house into a shop, which is something he never thought he would do before moving there from the Midwest.

He decided to name the business “Nut House Pecan Company,” where he sold fresh Georgia pecans, halves or pieces, that were vacuum sealed. He also sells nuts in their shells to people who like them that way.

Within the next few years, Williams plans to tear down the Main Street building and build a new, larger store there.

Since Williams gets his Air Force pension and pension, he says he doesn’t run the business for the money.

“It’s what keeps me engaged and providing service to the community,” he said Military Times.

Williams said he will donate a portion of his profits to JAVELAN, a program that provides service dog grants to retired military veterans and first responders.

The organization is very special to Williams because they train his own service dog, Peter.
