Cupra Tavascan: electric coupe SUV revealed, coming to Australia


The Spanish sports brand of the Volkswagen Group Cupra revealed tavascanThe company’s first all-electric SUV.

The gearshift paddles behind the steering wheel allow the driver to choose between four levels of regenerative braking.

The infotainment system gets a new customizable Human Machine Interface (HMI) and expected Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

A range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are available and all relevant information is available in the driver’s field of vision thanks to the augmented reality head-up display system.

Systems include adaptive cruise control, lane assist and a smart rear-view camera, as well as emergency assistance measures to monitor driver attention and possible parking assist. controlled remotely via smartphone.

“There are a lot of perfectly affordable electric cars on the market. That’s not Cupra’s purpose,” said Cupra CEO Wayne Griffiths.

“In 2019, we have a vision to reinvent electrification: with Tavascan, we want to show Tavascan that it is not a vehicle that responds to change, but an automobile that creates it. .”

The Tavascan will be the brand’s second all-electric model after the Cupra Born hatchback.

Cupra also confirmed it will introduce electric successors until now Leon And Formentor as it plans to use EVs only by 2030.

Using Australia as a destination, Cupra wants to expand its global presence and achieve annual worldwide sales of 500,000 units in the medium term.

Cupra plans to sell 7000 cars per year in Australia by 2025.
