In one Review of Honda CR-V Hybrid 2023, we found this model to be the brand’s best gas-powered SUV. It’s spacious, comfortable, well-equipped, responsive, and a great value. However, Honda presents it as a connector to future electric cars, and the newly added amplified engine sounds and artificial “shift” don’t speak for themselves.

This week marks the official launch of a variety of upcoming electric vehicles, some of them amid the Paris auto show.
Independent of that are GM’s two major launches. The automaker on Thursday unveiled the launch version of the 2024 GMC Sierra EV, the full-size electric truck, in its most luxurious Denali Edition 1 form. With a price tag of around $107,000 and an EPA range of at least 400 miles in some versions, it builds on GMC’s Denali luxury cache rather than the brand’s work truck origins. GM also revealed 2024 Cadillac Celestiq. As the brand’s $300,000 electric vehicle, it’s more like a Rolls-Royce than a Cadillac, and it’s slated to use special 3D-printed manufacturing techniques at GM’s technology hub.

After a decade of teasing, Rolls-Royce launches its first limited production electric carSpecter, is due for delivery by the end of 2023. While it still sticks to the brand’s redundant traditions — two doors, a long, luxurious and personalized hood, and nearly 18 feet long — it manages to much better efficiency than electric truck like GMC Hummer EV.
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV It debuted in Paris for the first time. It shares some core components with the EQE luxury sedan and is smaller and lighter than the EQS SUV – though that may not lead to a wider range. The EQE SUV uses a smaller 90.6 kWh battery but can still hit 300 EPA miles in some versions.

The Lexus UX 300e is getting an increased range, up to 280 miles according to the European WLTP standard, with the addition of a larger 72.8 kWh battery pack. That’s the same battery pack size as the upcoming Lexus RZ in the US, though it doesn’t seem to make the UX 300e any more likely for the US.
Also at the Paris show, Jeep revealed more about Avenger compact crossover phone that’s due in Europe and some markets in Asia starting next year — and the automaker has introduced a 4×4 concept version that could add the expected off-road capability. Slightly smaller than the Renegade, the Avenger isn’t likely for the US just because of its size.

According to a recent report from the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), Green hydrogen will be ready to expand within this decade, with more electrolytic capacity online by the end of the decade. It’s from an organization that has adopted some skepticism about the term in the past; but it argues that commercial demand for decarbonization is creating a market for it.
