Covid Q&A: How to get a booster in Wales?

How do I get my booster?
The Welsh Government says: “Please wait to be invited, your health department will contact you when it’s your turn.”
If you have received your first and second doses, you will be contacted by text, phone call or letter, three months after the second dose for your booster appointment.
Health Secretary Eluned Morgan added: “Some people will be asked to go to a walk-in position at one of the newly expanded vaccine clinics.
The advice is not to contact your GP or medical board to ask about appointments, unless you have not received your first or second vaccine.
Am I eligible for a boost?
In Wales, if you are over 18 and it’s been three months since your second shot, you can get a booster shot.
This is suitable for guidance from the UK government’s immunization advisers, Joint Committee on Immunization and Immunization (JCVI).
Booster drugs will be provided in descending order of age groups, with priority given to older adults at risk.
If you have tested positive for Covid, you should wait four weeks (28 days) from the date of the test before getting a booster shot.

If you are over 65 years old and live in a care home, you will have priority when starting any immunization program.
What if I am homeless?
People who are homeless, or have recently experienced homelessness, will first be given a booster dose first, as advised by the JCVI.
Outreach teams and pop-up clinics are dispatched to vaccinate.

You can volunteer through your local health board.

All positive tests are checked to identify possible Omicron variation, which takes several days.
Immediate public health action is taken to identify a possible case of omicron variation and contact tracing equipment will notify the individual of this.
