Country Cub: Homemade Honda CT125 kit from K-Speed
it’s just one Christmas is just a few days away—and if you still don’t know what to buy yourself, maybe a transformation kit Honda CT125 is the answer. After all, 365 days have passed, and honestly, you deserve it.
The Honda CT125 Hunter Cub is cute out of the box, but if anyone knows how to get the absolute daylight out of it, that’s it. K-Speed. This time around, they used the CT125 as a test base to develop a set of bolted parts that you can make your own. The only thing K-Speed doesn’t offer, is a few festivals bevande to consume while you assemble your powerful steed.
The transition starts at the front, with a K-Speed designed fender and fender lifter. This provides the clearance needed for all the mud sledding you’ll definitely be doing with this thing. The fenders are available in different colors to match the OEM colors of the CT125 and the lifter can also work with the original fenders.
The headlight cover is included in the kit, as is the metal luggage rack above it. It’s the perfect place to stack firewood or ice packs for overnight camping trips. The original speedometer has been moved to the side to make room for the stand.
The turn signal lights also have a grille, disguised as auxiliary lights. The bars now have new aluminum master cylinders, grips and mirrors, all from Diablo (K-Speed’s in-house parts brand).
To keep things simple, the engine remains original—but the K-Speed offers a full top-mounted exhaust system. Finished in matte black, it looks great and is super easy to clean. It can also sound much better than a stock pipe.
The car’s literal centerpiece is the new ‘fuel tank’, which is essentially just a fiberglass visor that sits in place of the traditional fuel tank. In the case of the Cub, it was all empty—so K-Speed decided to take advantage of this. Hidden beneath it is a small luggage rack, adding a sense of convenience to the CT125.
K-Speed admits that the cover is mainly there to change the look of the bike — and the storage compartment is just an extra feature. But the design has been a customer favorite so far and we love it.
Behind the ‘fuel tank’ is a new Diablo seat that’s thinner than the original, with upholstery that gives a fresh take on classic diamond stitch patterns. The side skirts and air filter as well as the alloy chain guard have also been refreshed.
To help keep the vehicle upright on soft surfaces, the stand has a screwed CNC extension. This is one of the easiest and cheapest mods to build for any adventure bike, so it’s great that the team at K-Speed keep an eye on small details like this.
Finally, a new luggage rack sits out the back. Painted black and made of tubular steel, not only does it look better than the pressed steel original, but it can also be sturdier. So it’s perfect for shipping all sorts of large unsuitable items from Home Depot.
The rear lights and turn signals also have separate covers to match the front lights. And a new pair of rear shocks, complete with adjustable preload, length and bounce, offer a significant upgrade over the original suspension.
Collision bars, skids and engine side boxes are also included, painted black to match the other Diablo parts. And if you’re a little apprehensive about tools, K-Speed has your back here, too. This set is completely plug-and-play, with no cutting, soldering, or frame modification required.
K-Speed lists the 18-piece set for 47,379 Thai Baht, which converts to $1,362, excluding shipping. That’s a lot of bang for your buck. And if you don’t want to use them all, you can also purchase individual parts.
With Country Cub, you won’t go that fast, and you really can’t get that far. But wherever you go, you know you’ll look great.
Go ahead… treat yourself.
