When one thinks of the weather in San Francisco, one usually doesn’t think of snow, but the latest models are running to find snowflakes falling around the city.
For example, the Central Europe modeled cumulative snowfall forecast through 10 a.m. Friday sees heavy snowfall in the hills around San Francisco, with snowflakes heading to the Airport.
The US GFS model has even more citywide snowflakes!
The temperature forecast for 4pm Thursday is 15-25F below normal (see Central Europe Forecast below).
The media is going crazy with this snow talk for “City on the Bay”, warning of “winter blasts”. Conditions are extremely dangerous for the city’s large homeless population.
How unusual is the snow at the airport in San Francisco? As shown below, the measurable amount of snow appeared there ONCE – in January 1962.
Heavy snowfall is expected next week in California for the next five days (see forecast below). Snow beach. And even heavy snow will fall in the mountains of Southern California. Every reservoir in California will be able to fill.
And a big snowfall is possible in western Western Australia on Sunday. But that will be discussed in another blog!
