The Citi Rewards+® Thẻ Card is a free annual card that offers 2 points per dollar at gas stations and grocery stores, up to $6,000 per year (and 1 point per dollar thereafter), as well as two relative features unique. The Citi Rewards+ Card is unique in that earnings on all purchases are rounded to the nearest 10 points. But there are also other aspects of the card that can be useful for choosing cardholders — and it also just added a new section to its welcome bonus.

The Citi Rewards+ Card great if you make a lot of small purchases because each purchase will be rounded to the nearest 10 points. Even a 50 cent pack of gum will earn you 10 points.

Most cardholders will get the most value out of their points by exchanging them for gift cards at the rate of 1 cent per point. But your rewards can become even more valuable if you also have Citi Prestige® Card (not available to new applicants) or Citi Premier® Card.

You can combine ThankYou Rewards points earned on your Citi Rewards+ account with points from Citi Premier or Citi Prestige and then transfer them to your ThankYou Rewards account. 16 airlines and two hotel partners.

Citi Rewards+ welcome offer

The Citi Rewards+ Card is offering a 20,000 points bonus after spending $1,500 in the first three months of account opening.

However, the sign-up bonus isn’t available if you’ve received a new cardholder bonus for any of the following cards — or if you’ve closed any of these accounts — in the last 24 months:

You can redeem these 20,000 points for $200 in gift cards. But if you also have Prestigious Citi or Citi Premier, you can transfer points from your Rewards+ account to your Prestige or Premium account. Doing so allows you to transfer your points to airline partners, in which case a reward worth $360, based on TPG’s valuation.

Earn points with Citi Rewards+

The Citi Rewards+ Card usually earn 2 ThankYou points for every dollar spent at supermarket And the gas station over the first $6,000 each year and 1 point for every dollar thereafter. You’ll also earn 1 ThankYou point for every dollar spent on all other eligible purchases.

In addition, coinciding with the launch of Travel Citi with Booking.comCiti Rewards+ cardholders can earn up to 5 points per dollar for booking in the portal through June 30, 2024.

Sellers have to categorize themselves as a supermarket or a gas station for you to earn 2 points for every dollar. So online supermarkets, warehouse clubs, wholesale clubs, super stores, discount stores, department stores and convenience stores may not offer this rate of income. The card’s terms and conditions also explicitly exclude “fuel purchased for commercial purposes or used for non-automobile purposes” from earning bonus points, as do the following types of merchants:

“General/discount supermarkets, freezer/butchers suppliers, dairy stores, grocery/miscellaneous stores, markets, pharmacies, warehouse clubs, wholesale clubs, specialty vendors, bakeries, candy stores, nut shops, confectionery and meal kit stores, transportation services.”

However, in addition to these standard accrual rates, one of the Citi Rewards+ CardPoint of sale is all earnings rounded to the nearest 10 points. For example, you can buy a $3 coffee at a restaurant and earn 10 points. If you use your card at the supermarket and earn $42 on a purchase, your earnings will be 84 points (since it’s a 2 point per dollar sort of thing), then rounded up to 10 near ie a total of 90 points.

That said, the Citi Rewards+ Card Perfectly designed for all your small expenses. Indeed, all supermarket and gas station purchases of $5 or less and all other purchases of $10 or less earn 10 points. To maximize your earnings while spending normally, consider your Citi Rewards+ Card usage threshold in each spending category. This will be based on other credit cards you have.

So if you only have Citi Premier and Citi+ Rewards, you’ll always want to use Premier for groceries and most restaurants. For all other categories, you’ll want to use Rewards+ for small purchases and Premier for buy bigger — you just need to find the breakeven point for each spending category.

Redeem points with Citi Rewards+

Points earned by Citi Rewards+ Card considered “basic” Citi ThankYou points which you can redeem at Amazon or Best Buy for purchases for less than 1 cent each. Alternatively, redeeming gift cards for 1 cent each is a better option.

In addition, when redeeming points, you will get 10% points back for the first 100,000 points redeemed each calendar year. This means that if you redeem 10,000 points in a year, you will get 1,000 of them back.

Citi Rewards+ benefits

As a free annual card, Citi Rewards+ Card does not offer many perks. Its main attraction is the way it accumulates points (which we will cover in a moment).

Which card competes with Citi Rewards+?

Is Citi Rewards+ Worth It?

The Citi Rewards+ card can be a good choice if you make small purchases often or benefit from a 10% cashback on redeemed points, especially if you have a Citi Prestige or Citi Premier card that can increase the value of the ThankYou points earned from the Rewards+ Card. However, I wouldn’t recommend it as your only credit card.

bottom line

While Citi Rewards+ offers some, other cards have no annual fee offer unlimited income bonus in supermarket or gas portfolio (or both) or better income on daily expenses.
