Chris Eubank Jr did his best to be patient. The highly ranked middleweight contender is anxious to deal with his longstanding issues with Liam Williams in the ring but has been forced to suffer multiple postponements due to the ongoing global pandemic.
Officially, both will end on February 5, at Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff Wales, UK. While leading their competition, Williams warned Eubank Jr that he had the guts to get his way on scorecards and potentially end their contest in an instant.
Regardless of his threats, however, Eubank Jr believes his longtime love rival will end in defeating one side.
“Nothing can save him from what is about to happen,” Eubank Jr told talkSPORT Boxing. “Absolutely nothing.”
Williams, 29, outperformed Demetrius Andrade in their April 2021 game. The British-born tennis player brushed it off after hitting the deck in the second round, before losing a unanimous decision.
In his bid to get back on the championship ladder, Williams believes a win over Eubank Jr will put him in the perfect position for another world championship chance.
However, Williams’ championship goals and ambitions are what Eubank Jr. very desirable for myself. Since losing a pretty close decision to George Groves in February 2018, Eubank Jr has had 5 consecutive victories.
All along, Eubank Jr had aspired to confront the upper echelons of the middleweight division. Currently, Jermall Charlo of Houston holds the WBC crown, Demetrius Andrade is the proud owner of the WBO title, and Gennadiy Golovkin and Ryota Murata hold the IBF and WBA titles respectively.
From the point of view of the British tennis player, championship glory awaits him if he can successfully defeat Williams on February 5.
“This fight will be with Liam Williams and after that, I will fight for a world title. I achieve my goal when I say I will. Chris Eubank Jr. to become world champion by the end of 2022.”
