Chris Colbert: “I’m Still Rush Hour”

Chris “Primetime” Colbert’s near-future superstar.

The Brooklyn-born boy beamed every time he stepped inside the ring. And, likewise, capture headlines whenever there’s a camera. With a flamboyant personality and skills that he believes “paid the bills,” Colbert was ready to fight for his first world championship against Roger Gutierrez. However, due to a positive COVID-19 test, Gutierrez was forced to withdraw. As a result, Hector Luis Garcia was brought on as a late substitute.

Though Colbert sees Garcia as an insignificant bump on the road to the world title, Garcia has proven to be an immutable roadblock. The 30-year-old from the Dominican Republic beat Colbert in their first round and nearly stopped him in the second.

In particular, in the seventh game, for the first time in his career, Colbert found himself lying on his back. Throughout their duel, Colbert fought extremely defensively, refusing to engage his men.

As the clock ticked to the last second, Colbert walked over to Garcia and raised his hands in the air to admit that he was the better guy. Though it wasn’t the outcome Colbert was looking for in the end, he was ready to admit his mistake but vowed to go back.

Colbert said after the defeat at Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada. “I’ve slipped up but I’m going to get failed. Let’s bet on that”.

Though Colbert promises to learn from his mistakes and use them to crawl to the top of a 130-pound mountain, the 25-year-old will have to save time until then. The defeat to Garcia not only represented the first loss of his career, but their contest was also the elimination of the title for Gutierrez’s WBA crown.

However, even with his recent setback, Colbert eloquently believes his future is as bright as ever. Usually, when introduced to a microphone, Colbert would scream and shout that he was “that guy”. Even now, despite finding himself on the wrong end of a one-sided defeat, Colbert doesn’t shy away from his bold claims.

“I am still golden hour. I’m still that n*gga. ”
