China’s 6-wheel ute revealed, Australia on the card

Great Wall just revealed a ute dream with its 6 wheeler CyberPickup concept at the 2023 Shanghai auto show.

plug-in hybrid The Cannon 6×6 ute – which has an all-electric range of 50 km – certainly caught our attention and is sure to be highly desirable for anyone who needs more payload and traction.

auto expert has been told the vehicle has been certified for the Chinese market with a towing capacity of 3.5 tons with the potential of up to 6 tons for special purposes.

GWM will also be building a 4×4 version of the new pickup, and although this particular example has been built by GWM’s co-creation team, the team works with aftermarket partners to create the products and ideas concept, but we are told it will go into production 100% regardless, in both 6×6 and 4×4 versions.

Did it come to Australia?

We certainly hope so! The local word from GWM is that it is definitely under review.

“The local team keeps a close eye on new models and ideas that may be of interest to the Australian market. The 6×6 Cannon has definitely caught our eye,” said a GWM Australia spokesperson.

“While we can confirm that it is expected to be in full production, we will need to see if it is feasible for Australia. The potential of the full-size pickup segment is something we are very aware of, so let’s keep an eye on this space…”

It’s certainly not a no-no and we certainly hope it becomes a yes at the right time.
