Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray 2024 here at last, and while the words The “all-wheel drive mix” might not give you a heart attack, we have a feeling that the E-Ray’s 655 horsepower and zero to 60 seconds of 2.5 seconds could do it. It definitely doesn’t focus on tracking like Corvette Z06, but that’s the problem. It’s a super powerful Corvette for people who probably won’t be driving their car to the track. But what about burnout? Sure, Chevy knows people will want to burn out, right?

The good news is, the all-wheel-drive E-Ray can certainly still burn. Chevy knows burnout is good and enjoyable (when done in a safe, responsible way, of course). It won’t build a Corvette that can’t make them. Like Motorcycle Trends reportThe Corvette E-Ray gives the driver the option to turn off the front-wheel drive, turning the car into a rear-wheel drive exhausted machine.

To do that, you must first disable stability and traction control. Then you pull and hold both shift paddles, put your left foot on the brake, step on the accelerator and release the shift lever. Then the car will bake the rear tire in a cloud of tire smoke. However, it can take some time to get in the right direction because if you step on the brake too hard, the transmission control will intervene to save the transmission line.. But if you don’t brake hard enough, the car will go away.

Unfortunately for burnout-loving E-Ray owners, Motorcycle Trends reported that it was not possible to hold the vehicle in place while performing burnout. It has to move forward slowly because otherwise the engine will overwhelm the front tire. Apparently, with the weight of the engine on them, the rear tires have such grip that they can propel the car forward even when the front brakes have locked the wheels completely.

So it’s not the ideal solution, and there’s certainly no road lock, but we wouldn’t complain about less-than-perfect burnout in a 655-horsepower supercar. That would just be rude.
