Chery Malaysia’s 10-year, 1 million km engine warranty reverts to 7 years after first 3k buyers, worth RM2k

After a long pregnancy starting from December 2021, Chery’s return to the Malaysian market was officially announced yesterday night. The re-launch event of the brand also saw the official launch of omoda 5 And Tiggo 8 Pro The SUV is the first model of Chery’s new era here.

Prior to yesterday, we brought you a preview of what’s coming next from the company’s facility in Wuhu, as well as a preview of the local spec Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro. The only thing that remains a mystery is the price (Omoda 5 RM108,800 to RM118,800; Tiggo 8 Pro RM159,800) and warranty package.

The second is a spectacular, attention-grabbing announcement – a 10 year or one million km engine warranty. But as with all things, look out for the asterisks indicating terms and conditions. Here, the 10-year motor warranty is only for the early adopters, namely the first 3,000 buyers.

However, even if you’re the 3,001st customer, the warranty isn’t bad. To combat the negative perception of cars from China and quell any concerns about reliability, Chery Malaysia is offering a 7-year or 150,000 km warranty on the vehicle. After claiming a 10-year engine warranty, the engine will be covered by a 7-year/150,000 km general warranty.

If for any reason you Actually If you need a 10-year warranty, you can purchase an extended warranty (EWP) to extend your engine warranty to 10 years. The EWP price is RM2,000 – basically the first 3,000 buyers will receive a ‘free gift of RM2,000’.

There will also be 5 years of free service, but Chery’s wording here is pretty liberal. This is unlike some of the real free plans out there where you pay nothing as parts and labor are included. Instead, the “free” part here is the labor charge (parts not included) for the rotating services (free this time, paid next time). Service intervals are every 10,000 km or six months.
