The Cowboys and the Chiefs couldn’t have had better weeks. After a tough loss to the Denver Broncos, the Cowboys came back with a 43-3 laugh over the Falcons, while the Chiefs’ offense ended up being like itself in a 41-14 win over the Raiders. With these two teams going head-to-head, it would be fair to expect a lot of attacks on Sunday, especially if they come out like they did last week.
Dak Prescott looked like an MVP candidate for the Cowboys once again against the Falcons, completing 77% of his passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns. Prescott added a hasty touchdown to his total, rounding out an impressive rebuttal to his lousy performance against the Broncos last week. Now 7-2, the Cowboys are in a good spot in an NFC full of teams that are starting to go down with the mid-season blues.
Similarly, the chiefs may be hitting their stride at the right time. Andy Reid’s foul plan was on full display in prime time last week, and Patrick Mahomes threw the ball 50 (!) times for 405 yards and five touchdowns. The Raid Team has no answer for a Captain foul that looks a lot more like 2019 than most of the season, and the Captain currently tops the AFC West 6-4 after being .500 two weeks ago.
This game should have a lot of fireworks, and Vegas has it like a coin. The captain is the favorite 2.5 contenders on Thursday, and while this matchup may not have big long-term implications for either team on the leaderboard – it will have no effect on Those with a tie result – it will be an unfortunate test for both participating teams. On paper, Arrowhead only gives a 2.5-point cushion to the captains, based on the reputation of the crowd, which is a testament to the uniformity of these teams.
