Juddmonte Farms announced the 22nd of December the passing of the champion breeder Dansili at his birthplace, Banstead Manor Stud after a brief but aggressive illness. He is 25 years old.
Bred by Juddmonte Danehill’s son was Hasili’s first foal, it became a remarkable green hen as the dam of seven grade/group winners including the winners. win class / group 1 Champs Elysees , Intercontinental , Bank Hill , Cacique , and Heat . The Champs Elysees, Intercontinental and Banks Hill also became champions.
Dansili may not have won group 1 but he has ranked / group 1 six times, including seconds in Dubai Poule d’Essai des Poulains (French Two Thousand Guineas, G1), Champagne Lanson Sussex Stakes (G1) and Prix de la Foret (G1) and third in Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1T). He went on to become an even bigger influence as one of the leading British studs and males of his generation.
Coached in France by Andre Fabre, Dansili won his first and only race at the age of 2, and a four-time win on his debut at the age of 3 made him the most recognized player in the world. the top favorites for the 1999 French Two Thousand Guineas. Fifteen runner-ups posted, it was one of the biggest fields in race history, and Dansili just found Sendawar too good. He ran four more times that season, winning the Prix Messidor (G3) and taking a place in the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard Jacques le Marois (G1) after the Dubai Millennium and Emirates Prix du Moulin de. Longchamp (G1).
A tough and steadfast campaigner, Dansili came back in 4th place to win the Prix Edmond Blanc (G3) and the Prix du Muguet (G2) and three more times at the top level, including both second to the Giant’s Causeway of “Iron Horse” in Sussex at Goodwood and next Tuesday War Chant and Northeast Boundary in Breeders’ Cup Mile by neck and nose, the fastest-ending quarter in Breeders’ Cup history.
Dansili retired with a 5-4-3 record from 14 starts and earned $570,686.
Flintshire , Harbinger , Railway link , Rules , Queen’s Trust , Drown , and Fugue . Dank and Queen’s Trust are Dansili’s Breeders’ World Championship winners to date, having won the 2013 and 2016 editions of the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1T) respectively. Flintshire is his most successful runner in North America, where he won three first place and second place twice in the 2014 and 2016 editions of the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1T). Flintshire earns $9,589,910 in career earnings. He was also honored as the 2016 Eclipse champion grass horse.
Dansili became the champion male in France in 2006 and has become the special stallion of the winners of the group. Dansili was retired from his teaching duties in 2018 at the age of 22. His influence will be felt at Juddmonte for many years to come through his daughters in the broodmare band and through his current sire son. at Juddmonte’s Bated’s Breath , whose career closely resembles that of his son to date.
