Lionel Messi’s July 21 Inter Miami debut proved to be a star-studded event. Famous football fans include Serena Williams, kim kardashian, LeBron James and Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham attended the highly anticipated match, which saw Inter Miami take on Cruz Azul. Messi’s first game included a game-changing moment thanks to the athlete’s 94th-minute free-kick, giving his team a 2-1 win.
The incredible match-kick was witnessed by numerous fans, including celebrities like Kardashian, who attended the match alongside her 7-year-old son, Saint West. In an interview with Big football tournament, the reality TV star revealed her son turned her into an avid soccer fan. “He’s obsessed with football,” explained Kardashian. “And I would do anything for my children. So I traveled the world. We did soccer trips. During the summer, we would do different exhibition games.”
Kardashian went on to reveal that she played soccer as a child and that she’s glad she and Saint can stick together in the game. “I’m so glad my son likes it and we can hang out together.” When asked if her son has a favorite player, the answer, of course, is Messi. In Kardashian’s Instagram Stories, she revealed that Saint met Messi after the game and even won an autographed jersey.
Meanwhile, David; his wife, Victoria Beckham; and their two children, Harper and Cruz, were present to celebrate Messi’s first game after he signed for Inter Miami in early July. In an interview with the AP, David said Messi has “raised the bar” for football in the United States. “When I went on the cruise in 2007 and when I started my cruise in Miami 10 years ago, my vision was exactly what we saw at the time Leo announced it,” he said. “That’s what I want to see for the sport.”
