Meadow and Willow are two inseparable companion dogs. Two baby mice will play together, walk together and snuggle together. So when Willow unexpectedly passed away in 2020, Meadow became lonely and heartbroken.
To fill the hole in Meadow’s heart, the puppy’s family decided to adopt a new friend for her, but this new addition is very different from Willow. The Meadow family adopted a kitten named Twig. Although Meadow and Twig are two very different beings, the two formed a special bond almost immediately. In many ways, Twig behaves more like a dog than a cat.
Two friends who are not capable
From day one, Meadow and Twig were very interested in each other. After their first night together, they slept with their heads. Their human, named Lee, knew that Twig wouldn’t replace Willow, but the kitten brought new joy to Meadow’s life.
Ever since they met, Twig and Meadow have been inseparable. They ate with their bowls side by side, and they struggled gently. At the end of an adventurous day, they cuddle up to take a nap.
“When they play, you never hear them scream or cry. So they know how to play together safely,” said Lee. “It’s really comforting to know that when I’m not at home, they have each other.”

But one thing Twig and Meadow don’t do together is walk. Meadow went for a daily walk with Lee while Twig watched from the window. Twig always tries to follow Meadow out the door, and he looks very sad when he is left. So Lee started thinking of ways to include Twig in their outdoor adventures.
Twig participates in a daily walk
When Meadow went out for a walk, Twig would wait patiently at the door until she returned. To cheer Twig up, Lee also started taking him for walks. At first, she carried him, but she knew there had to be an easier way.
Lee ended up buying a bag for Twig so she could easily carry him on walks. He sat in his pocket with his head protruding, admiring his surroundings. Before long, Twig became a regular part of Meadow’s walking routine.
“Not many people say that dogs and cats get along, let alone as well as Meadow and Twig, and they help restore hope to humanity,” says Lee. “Like, if a cat and dog can be as sweet together as this, there’s really no reason for us humans to struggle.”
Theo Lee’s TikTok page, she is also fostering a puppy. Twig and Meadow welcomed the puppy into their home without hesitation. They will probably be very sad when the puppy is adopted, but they will always have each other, no matter how many pets come and go.
