A Doberman in desperate need of help showed up in someone’s backyard. He was skin and bones, and it surprised the homeowner that he was able to stand on his own. But even though he was in terrible shape, he wagged his tail as if he understood his life was about to change. The homeowner immediately picked up the phone and reached out to Stray Rescue of St. Louis. This phone call was the start of the dog’s new life. This is the story of Albus, the bravest Dobbie who didn’t let his sad start determine his bright future.
Donna from Stray Rescue of St. Louis couldn’t believe her eyes when she came across the skinniest Doberman she had ever seen. She was unsure if the dog had been abandoned in the neighborhood or had wandered there on his own, but one thing was clear – he was hanging on by a thread. Donna knew she had to act quickly to save the poor animal.
Upon receiving the call about Albus, Donna immediately went to the scene to assess the situation. She expressed her gratitude to the homeowner for reporting the dog’s condition and reassured him that the team at Stray Rescue of St. Louis would do everything in their power to help the dog recover. The man was relieved to hear this, and Donna could sense his genuine concern for the animal’s wellbeing.
As Donna approached the frightened and weak Doberman, she asked him if he would allow her to help him. Gently, she secured a leash around Albus’s neck and guided him into the rescue vehicle. The dog seemed to understand that he was being saved and willingly followed Donna, allowing her to lift him into the warm vehicle where he could finally rest.
It wasn’t long before a foster volunteer arrived to take the Doberman into her care. Under the loving and attentive supervision of his foster mom, the once-emaciated dog began to regain his strength and health. She nursed him back to health, providing him with the necessary medical treatments, nutritious meals, and emotional support he needed to make a full recovery.
After receiving his final heartworm treatment, Albus looked like a completely different dog. His once skeletal frame had filled out, his coat was shiny, and his eyes were bright and full of life. Donna was amazed at the transformation and couldn’t be more grateful to the foster volunteer for her dedication and compassion.
While it’s unclear if the foster mom will “foster fail” and adopt the Doberman herself, Donna has a strong feeling that he will become a permanent fixture in her home. Regardless of where he ends up, one thing is certain – the love and care provided by Stray Rescue of St. Louis and the dog’s foster mom have given Albus a second chance at life.
