A teenager in Canada is in trouble after he ripped off someone else’s supercar in wet weather.
“A 13-year-old child was given the keys but had no driving skills,” the West Vancouver Police Department summarized in a press release.
Police responded to a single-vehicle collision on March 25, 2024 on the Trans-Canada Highway at approximately 11 p.m., finding a Lamborghini Huracan in a ditch with no one inside.
Sergeant Chris Bigland said: “Police have commenced a comprehensive search to ensure the safety of the driver and any passengers.”
“With the cooperation of the vehicle owner, we were able to quickly identify and interview the uninjured occupants of the vehicle.
“The young man and a friend decided to take the car for a drive but could not control the car in the dark and rainy conditions. Although significant property damage occurred, we are grateful that no one was injured in the collision.”
The 13-year-old driver was charged under the Motor Vehicles Act with speeding, careless driving, driving without a license and failing to attend the scene of a collision.
Police said North Coast News The Huracan was in the process of being sold and the owner gave the keys to the teenager without knowing his age or having a driver’s license.
The owner is said to have given the teenager the right to use the car even though the sale was not successful.
“It seems like the registered owner could have asked a few more questions to demonstrate that this was a wise choice,” Sergeant Bigland said. North Coast News.
Police found the teenager at a house not far from the accident scene.
The West Vancouver Police Department said the teen’s parents had “no response” to share with the media.
