Can any street enthusiast become a real racer?
Having dreams is a good thing. Having a goal focused wholeheartedly on making that dream a reality is even better. Pursuing that goal? I think that’s where most people fall, but Jeremiah Burton from donut media not one of those people.
Jerry wants to be a car racer (please keep your Primus joke until the end of the presentation), but instead of just talking about it to his friends or going out and pretending to be one on Angeles Crest, he found a way to make it happen. How did he do that?
For starters, he found he had a natural aptitude for driving. Then he went to the racing school in Skip Barber, where I’m sure Terry Earwood bribed him and gave him some real racing cars to build. Then he practices on sims, exercises, and most importantly, hustles and plans (I mean this in a good way) to find a sponsor that pays the bill of about $250,000 for a race season.
Watching him go through this process is exciting, but watching him capture those emotions as he’s sitting in the car waiting to hit the net for his first race is not only heartwarming, but incredibly relatable.
We’ve all been there, where the thing we never thought possible happened happened and that moment hit you. For me, it was getting my first Lamborghini press car – a bright orange Huracan Evo RWD Spyder – and realizing that someone trusted me enough to let me use this car for a weekend to do just about anything (as long as I wrote about the experience).
What was that moment for you? Let me know in the comments section.
