For its other skincare essentials, Mendes relies on a few trusted staples. She loves Eminence’s Probiotic Clear Skin and Stone Crop Hydrating Mist, KD Skincare’s KD Wipe Away Day Cream, Tatcha’s Hydrating Cream, and Renee Rouleau’s SPF. Oh, and she’d never leave the house without the Armani Luminous Silk Concealer. “I stick with that product,” she says with a laugh.
When I asked Mendes if she was a fan of fragrance, I got a resounding “oh my god, Yes.“Her scent choice? Armani My Way, which she swears she loves regardless as an Armani brand ambassador. I imagine that sitting next to Mendes is like being wrapped in a smoke of bergamot, white flowers, vanilla and cedar, and the actress wouldn’t have had it any other way. “I’m really obsessed with having a signature scent,” she says. “I find it fascinating that people have a signature scent. I think it’s hot when you smell someone in the room and you know exactly who it is.”
Needless to say, she doesn’t change her perfume, and this uncompromising attitude influences her way of life. Mendes believes it’s most important to get in touch with yourself, both from a skincare standpoint and from a mental health standpoint. “Whenever I feel stressed and overwhelmed, the solution for me is [figuring] what’s going on with [myself],” she said. “Let’s get to the root of the problem and face all of those things, and bring them to the surface. Talk to yourself. I don’t like anything too prescriptive. I feels like we’re constantly changing as humans, and we need to constantly reevaluate what we should be doing.”
When it comes to skin care, she feels the same rules apply. Mendes doesn’t believe in stagnant skin care routines. When her skin has its ups and downs, she likes to tweak her methods. While her routine may vary according to her skin tone, you can bet on one thing: Mendes will always find the best solution.
