BYD App Connect is now available in Australia


BYD vehicles in Australia now offer app connectivity that allows owners to check in and control their vehicles remotely, a technology that has long been on Teslas.

The free BYD app is available on both Apple and Android devices, with access gradually rolling out to customers starting today.

Owners with access to the BYD App can now check in on their vehicle remotely and also control a number of features.

Functions available in the BYD App include:

  • Driving mileage indicator
  • State fees
  • vehicle condition
  • Unlock the door remotely
  • Remote door lock
  • Remote flashing headlights
  • Remote climate control
  • Condition of doors and windows
  • Tire pressure indicator

BYD Automotive notes in an email to owners that when the door is unlocked using the BYD App, “the vehicle can start within four minutes.”

Other brands offering this type of remote connection include Kia with Kia Connect, Hyundai with Bluelink and Ford with FordPass.

The only car BYD currently sells in Australia is Atto 3 Electric SUV, that is third best selling electric car (EV) in 2022 although deliveries only begin in September.

The BYD Atto 3 is available now from $48,011 pre-road for the Standard Range and $51,011 pre-road for the Extended Range.

Atto 3 won’t be alone for long as local distributor EVDirect has confirmed GWM Ora– And Grade 4-competitor dolphin hatchback is expected to launch in the first half of 2023 and Tesla Model 3-competitor Seal sedan is expected to launch in the second half of this year.

Both of these models have been spotted in Australia recently.
