Letter to the editor: McPeek Punches Hall Tickets
McPeek Punches Hall of Fame Tickets
See what trainer Kenny McPeek has accomplished over the past two decades winning the Kentucky Derby (G1), Preakness Stakes (G1) and Belmont Stakes (G1) along with the Kentucky Oaks (G1), Travers Stakes (G1 ) and two Alabama Stakes (G1) will hopefully qualify him for the Racing Hall of Fame.
His record of winning more than 2,000 races was highlighted by dozens of stakes-winning colts and colts he purchased at below-market prices.
Kenny has served with distinction on several industry boards and is known for his integrity and humility. The sociable ambassador of our sport is deserving of this honor.

Unfair treatment
I’m writing a reference to Jay Hovdey’s The Final Turn (May 2024 issue) article in my latest issue of BloodHorse.
I have read Mr. Hovdey’s other articles about Bob Baffert. There are very few people speaking out in support of Bob Baffert and I’m glad to read someone speaking up. I find it hard to believe that Churchill Downs would dare ban Bob Baffert from the Derby for another year. Who knows when they will allow him back.
Bob was completely blackballed. Only a few articles have been written about the behavior of Churchill Downs.
D. Wayne Lukas has always spoken out against this suspension. Other coaches are probably afraid to speak out because it could happen to them. I think everyone should speak up and then this wouldn’t happen. They can’t ban everyone. Churchill Downs’ behavior is abhorrent.
I was very pleased that the owners for whom Bob Baffert trained did not change trainers for the Derby. That shows what they think of him. The Derby was on my list, but not anymore. It will never be the same.
