British ‘hero’ father’s body found in Italian lake after he jumped from boat to save son | World News
The body of a British “hero” father who jumped into a boat to save his son has been discovered at a popular tourist lake in Italy, more than three weeks after he went missing.
Aran Chada, 51, was believed to be on vacation with his family last month when he drowned in Lake Garda.
The incident happened on July 22 and his body was found Tuesday afternoon by volunteers using underwater drones, according to the local coast guard.
He was discovered at a depth of 316 meters (1,036ft) and about 800 meters (2,624ft) from the coast, near the resort town of Limone.

Sales manager Mr Chada rented a boat with his two children and partner Holly Mosley, 39, on the lake.
They were about 500 meters (1,640ft) from the shore when his 14-year-old son domestic troubleso he jumped in and tried to push him towards the ship to save him, the coast guard said.
Mr. Chada then got himself into trouble and slipped under the water, triggering a massive search.
The Coast Guard said the drowning was “probably caused by illness following the rescue Mr Chada performed of the first child in danger”.
After the tragedy, they believe he may have suffered a heat stroke seizure.
The temperature was around 38°C, but the water was “10 degrees colder”.
Coast Guard commander Antonello Ragadale at the time said he was a “hero” and that authorities were doing everything they could to find him.
The searches began after Mr Chada’s wife raised the alarm by ringing international emergency number 112, and continued uninterrupted – except for a few days when bad weather halted work. .

The Coast Guard coordinated the operation, which involved police, helicopters and navy diving teams and firefighters equipped with sonar and remote-controlled vehicles.
He was due to celebrate his birthday on holiday and his family, now back in the UK, have been informed of the discovery of his body.
A neighbor in Woodhouse Eaves village, near Loughborough, who declined to give his name, said after Mr Chada disappeared: “They’ve been part of the village for many years. It’s very, very tragic. “
Another man, who has known the family for many years, said it was “heartbreaking”.
According to his LinkedIn page, Mr. Chada worked for Global Energy Ventures, a company that provides services to oil fields in Africa.
The Foreign Office said in a statement: “We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Northern Italy and are in contact with local authorities.”
