The UK government has been criticized for sending a “strong negative signal” in advance Cop27 climate summit in Egypt, due to the failure of $300m (£260m) in promised climate finance payments.
Great Britain has annoying among the developing countries hardest hit by the climate crisis, following a statement from Downing Street that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, will not attend Cop27 due to his focus on domestic issues.
He is currently the chairman of Cop and will transfer it to Egypt in November.
The UK missed a September deadline to provide $288 million to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to help developing countries adapt to and mitigate climate impacts, Politico reported.
