A sly and confident smile immediately crept across Brian “Bomac” McIntyre’s face after Errol Spence Jr.’s recent performance.
The Dallas native fought through a bit of unforeseen adversity in his welterweight unification match against Yordanis Ugas on April 16, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. While he seemed stunned initially for the first half, the powerful nampaw returned superbly in the second, punishing the brave Cubans for the rest of their bout.
Although Spence Jr won that night, McIntyre shook his head in approval when the Dallas production expressed a desire to take on the next Terence Crawford. McIntyre, Crawford’s longtime coach, always stands firmly in the eyes of the bottom stars. And while he respects Spence Jr and everything he brings to the table, he becomes skeptical whenever media pundits and fans assume their duel will be a 50-game showdown. /50. As McIntyre thinks, Crawford vs. Spence Jr. will be one-way traffic.
McIntyre told FightHype.com: “Bud will dominate him. “Bud will defeat him, record my words.”
So far, the partnership between Crawford and McIntyre has yielded excellent results. Aside from the 34-year-old who is continuing his career and creating an undefeated 38-game record, the pair’s most recent pairing is arguably their most impressive header yet.
On November 20, 2021, Crawford hit his first fight then fought a 10th round victory over Shawn Porter, prompting the retirement of the two-time former 147-pound champion.
Before Crawford’s match with Porter, McIntyre was rowdy and adamant that Crawford would be the first boxer to stop Porter. But, despite Crawford’s recent performance against Porter, and despite him being at the top of the near-table list, McIntyre’s confidence doesn’t simply stem from nearly two decades work for Crawford.
Admittedly, McIntyre reveals that he has an extensive notebook of current uniform champion trends and habits. Ultimately, in his view, Spence Jr has progressed throughout his career. However, the famous coach noticed some flaws in the game Spence Jr. over the years. And, no matter how well he’s done so far, McIntyre believes he doesn’t have them.
“I have been following Spence for a long time and to me he is still doing the same thing. He may have gotten stronger, he may have improved on some of the things he does in camp but as a coach he is still doing the same things. If he doesn’t change after that, he won’t change by the time he gets there with Terence. ”
