Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can spend more of their Platinum Points on player icons, and this week Nintendo added a new avatar based on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Now we talk! Since the last time I talked about these wave-based profile pictures, I’ve mostly tweaked them – but today was a big exception. Among other options, you can set your Transform icon as an offensive (and delightfully censored) icon. Great food.
Link, Zelda, Urbosa, Revali, Tera, and a rebellious Bokoblin – all here. If you want to be flexible and decent, the choice is yours. My eyes immediately averted.
If you’re feeling daring, you’ll drop 10 points on Dubious Food and redeem it for your new (permanent?) Nintendo Switch player icon. Well, at least until the joke turns thin.
You can find the current selection from the Transform main screen – click the red “Switch” icon, then scroll down to Quests & Rewards to see what’s available.
This whole “weekly avatar” scheme is still pretty fresh, with tons of games and images to pull from, so I think it’s interesting that Nintendo is willing to include some unique visuals. as early as this. If anything, the trick is just to get people’s attention – I’d totally miss Great Food otherwise a thank you on Reddit.
After appearing in Breath of the Wild and Age of Calamity, I will be disappointed if this so-called food doesn’t come back in the sequel. I hope it’s even more like a wildcard next time.
