BMW X1 2023 car price and specifications – UPDATED

Third generation BMW X1 appeared in Q4 of last year in sDrive18i and xDrive20i guise, and a new range-topping vehicle is set to join the range later this year.

UPDATE, 7/23/2023 – BMW Australia has priced the X1 M35i xDrive, a new flagship in the range. It will launch later this year.

The BMW X1 open range at $60,400 before circulation for sDrive18i front-wheel drive, topped at $90,900 before circulation for M35i.

The BMW X1 launches new BMW On-Demand Features, where features such as heated seats are available with a subscription through the BMW ConnectedDrive store. Currently, these features include heated front seats (sDrive18i only) and a heated steering wheel.

The new X1 is only available with petrol in Australia, BMW has not confirmed diesel or plug-in hybrid options for a local launch. There is, however, the electric iX1, currently available in a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup.

Power increases by 12kW and 10Nm in the sDrive18i, continuing with the turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine.

The xDrive20i effectively replaces the old front-wheel drive sDrive20i and the defunct all-wheel drive xDrive25i, and generates 9kW and 20Nm more than the xDrive25i. However, it drops 10kW and 60Nm on the xDrive23i mild hybrid sold in Europe.

The X1 has grown, being 53 mm longer, 24 mm wider and 44 mm taller than its predecessor on a 22 mm longer wheelbase. There is also an additional 35L of trunk space with the second row and up.

BMW says the X1 uses the same design principles as its predecessor for the front and rear axles, although the suspension and shock absorbers have been extensively upgraded with the aim of improving comfort on the long haul.

Inside, the X1 and iX1 are the latest BMWs to receive the brand’s new BMW 8 Operating System and Curved Display, which features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system in a single display.

As in the new version Series 2 Active TourerInside is almost identical to the X1, the iDrive controller has been dropped, although the latest BMW OS supports more use of voice prompts.

There are also slim vents, a small gear selector and a “floating” armrest with a control panel that includes key switches such as the start button and hazard lights.

At the bottom of the center stack you’ll find a cup holder, a USB-C socket, and an upright wireless phone charger that lets you see your phone.

X1 will go up against Audi Q3, Mercedes GLA And Volvo XC40while iX1 fights with Mercedes-Benz EQA And Charger Volvo XC40.

powertrain

The 2023 BMW X1 sDrive18i use one turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine manufacture 115kW power and 230Nm of torque.

Power is sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. BMW claims a 0-100km/h time of 9.0 seconds.

X1 xDrive20i uses one 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine manufacture 150kW And 300Nm of torque.

It has a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, and has a 0-100 km/h time of 7.4 seconds.

The X1 M35i xDrive is also equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 233kW and 400Nm of power. It is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with drive being sent via all-wheel drive.

BMW claims the X1 M35i xDrive can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, making it the fastest petrol X1 ever sold here.

Effective

BMW X1 2023 used 6.5L/100km on mixed cycle under the guise of sDrive18i, 7.4L/100km in xDrive20i and between 8.0 and 8.5L/100km (on the WLTP cycle) in the M35i xDrive.

Measures BMW X1 2023 4500mm long, 1845mm wide, 1642mm tall and riding a 2692mm The standard long.

It has 540L boot space, expand to 1600L with the second row folded.

Service and Warranty

BMW has finally switched to a 5 year unlimited km warranty in Australia, meaning its coverage now matches what’s on offer at its upmarket rivals.

Maintenance is required every 12 months or 20,000 km for the X1 and the 5-year ‘Basic’ service pack will set you back $1800.

Safety

The BMW X1 has received a five-star ANCAP safety rating with a 2022 stamp, based on testing conducted by Euro NCAP. The all-electric iX1 has yet to be tested and has not been evaluated.

It received 86% for adult passenger protection, 88% for child passenger protection, 76% for vulnerable pedestrian protection and 94% for safety assistance.

The new M Compound brakes will be available on the M35i xDrive in early 2024 for $3000. It has four-piston brakes, fixed brake calipers at the front and single-piston, floating brake calipers at the rear.
