Bills vs. Saints, updates, highlights from the 2021 NFL Thanksgiving game

The Saints are placing their Invincible Thanksgiving against the Bills in 2021.

New Orleans debuted on Thanksgiving in 2010. They were the defending Super Bowl champions at the time Drew Brees helped lead the team to a 30-27 win over the Cowboys led by Jon Kitna. They have since made two more appearances, beating the Falcons in the home and away series in the 2018 and 2019 seasons to a 3-0 record.

Now, the Saints will return to the Superdome on Thanksgiving with the team’s toughest mission yet. They have to beat the Bills without having some key pieces to break.

New Orleans (5-5) will start with Trevor Siemian in midfield, and Siemian has recorded a 0-3 record starting since Jameis Winston’s season-ending ACL tear. Alvin Kamara (knee) and two of the team’s top attacking players, Terron Armstead and Ryan Ramczyk, will also feature. And they didn’t have top receiver Michael Thomas.

Can Siemian regain the form he showed when helping Winston against the Buccaneers? That would be the Saints’ best hope. But it’s hard to believe it happened against a solid Buffalo defence.

That said, the Bills (6-5) have struggled in recent weeks. They have a 2-3 record in the last five games and are only 41-15 lead by the Colts. The defense can’t have Jonathan Taylor (year TD) and midfielder Josh Allen has been inconsistent so far. The defense will counter-attack back in an easier game, but can the Bills’ heavy, one-sided offensive action keep the Saints defense guessing enough to win hostile territory in a match? short week? That is not an easy task.

This game looks to be the best of the three on Thanksgiving overall, and it will go a long way toward identifying potential Wild Card participants in both AFC and NFC.

Live updates Bills vs. Saints, highlights from the NFL Thanksgiving game

(All Eastern Ages.)

8:05 pm – 15 minutes left until game time. The Cowboys-Raiders game is still going, but that won’t delay the start of this game.

8:03 pm – Jordan Poyer and the Bills are gearing up for this one. The Saints have a perfect 3-0 on Thanksgiving, so they’ll need to deliver the A-game to win the Superdome.

7:54 pm – Cris Collinsworth is off Thanksgiving, so Drew Brees will be on the call. The Saints used that opportunity to honor their legendary, Super Bowl-winning quarterback with a Twitter post.

7:50 pm – Bills close Dawson Knox played catch with some fans before the game started. Pretty cool.

7:39 pm – The Bills are also using another reverse run in Week 12. Zack Moss is inactive and should be a sane trail for the game. That means Devin Singletary and Matt Breida will lead the Buffalo attack. Sean McDermott praised Breida earlier in the week, so he’ll likely be the backyard lead.

7:35 pm – The Saints will be flawed when running backwards. Both Alvin Kamara (knee) and Mark Ingram (knee) are out. Tony Jones Jr will lead the New Orleans backyard. For a complete look at the team’s back-to-back activity depth chart, see click here.
