Big Race Verdict: Two Troytown Tips for Sunday Feature

A Plus Tard couldn’t resist following both Adrian and Matt in Saturday’s Betfair Chase and so it proved. The big race on Sunday is much more complicated, Troytown in Navan always a very competitive handicap. Exeter and Uttoxeter also active on Sunday to create horse racing tips.

“Running away from the same landmark here, he must be taken seriously”

Gordon Elliott means Troytown won it four years back from 2014 to 2017 and he’s been way too long for another win in the race. He’s responsible for seven out of 17 runners but his best chance seems to be Farclas, who will have talented 5lb racer Jack Foley on the plate.

Farclas took Victory at the 2018 Cheltenham Festival and had some very good form in the top handicaps over the fence, finishing third in the Paddy Power Race at Leopardstown last December, finishing second first. The Shunter was at the Paddy Power Plate at the Festival and finished his season with fifth place in the Grand National.

Returning from six months off the track at Listowel in September, he was in the process of running another major race at Kerry National with a three-man departure from home, looking as if he were going any time. Running away from the same landmark here, he must be taken seriously – Adrian Wall

“He boasts a smart first-time record”

The winner of this race in 2018 is Tout Est Permis. He’s kept the company smart since then, getting 2nd and 1st so he totally deserves to be on top here. Eoin Walsh is a man of decent condition so his 5 pound claim would be a plus in lightening his load.

Walsh has ridden him four times in the past, including a third time in the 2020 Pertemps final at the Cheltenham Festival. Coming in second and fifth in a handicap pair in gelding’s only other races at Navan, he loves the track.

Autumn was the time to make him go down year by year. He boasts a smart record on his debut, his victory in this race coming in his seasonal debut. Five of his top six RPRs came in October or November, so this is a great time to join him – Matt Newman
