The BMW 1 Series special edition is the brand’s cheapest model in Australia


BMW car revealed Sports collection its versions 1 Series And 2 Gran Coupe lines special edition family, with the 118i Sport becoming the brand’s cheapest model.

BMW says it fits ‘standard’ suspension and hasn’t specified whether it will use the M Sport system found on the regular 118i and 220i Gran Coupe. We have reached out to the company for clarification.

They feature a suite of Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant technologies, including:

  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Rear cross-traffic warning
  • Traffic sign recognition
  • Reverse the camera
  • Front and rear parking sensors

Both models come standard in metallic paint with the following finishes:

  • Black sapphire
  • Red Melbourne
  • M Misano Green
  • Blue rock snapper
  • Gray skyscraper

The sport 118i use one 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine manufacture 103kW power and 220Nm of torque, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The 220i Gran Coupe Sport use one 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 141kW And 280Nmcombined with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Both models are front-wheel drive.

These aren’t the first Sport Collection models to be offered in Australia, with BMW launching them Sport 330i And X3 xDrive30i sports in 2023.

The 330i Sport is unique among these special edition models in that it loses various safety features such as forward cross-traffic alert and lane-keeping assist, while also losing several thousand dollars in price.

However, like the others, it has some touches like a sunroof and heated front seats.
