Barcelona vs Manchester City: Mahrez’s last-minute penalty helps Man City draw 3-3 at Guardiola’s Camp Nou

Manchester City and Barcelona drew 3-3 in a friendly at Camp Nou on Wednesday.

The match saw City take the lead, after a mistake by Barca goalkeeper Inaki Pena as Julian Alvarez caught the ball, scoring with a close-range finish.

Barcelona responded within eight minutes. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scores after Jordi Alba’s free kick directed by Sergio Busquets. Two of the three players involved in the goal were active players under Guardiola.

In the second half, Frenkie De Jong scored from Memphis Depay’s assist in the 66th minute, while it took just four minutes for Guardiola’s men to come back.

Cole Palmer, playing his sixth game for Manchester City’s senior squad, scored from a Joao Cancelo pass that made it all square.

Memphis Depay continued to be the difference for the Blaugrana as he directed Sergio Roberto’s low pass into the net, giving Barcelona a temporary advantage in the game.

While the outcome of the game looked sealed, a last-minute penalty conceded by Barcelona’s Andreas Christensen gave City a second chance to equalize. This time, Riyad Mahrez made no mistake when he delivered a calm finish that ended the full game in 90 minutes if the football was tense.

The result of the match:

Barcelona 3 (Aubameyang 29′, de Jong 66′, Depay 78′) draw with Manchester City (Alvarez 21, Palmer 70′, Mahrez 90 + 9′)
