The Audi e-tron GT quattro won the title of World Performance Car of the Year 2022, marking the continued strong growth of the electric vehicle segment at this year’s awards.
The all-electric German model beat the finalists in its class, which also includes BMW M3 and M4, Porsche 911 GT3Toyota GR86 / Subaru BRZ and Volkswagen Golf GTI and Golf CHEAP.
From there, the initial entry list has been truncated to include the e-tron GT quattro, M3/M4 and general entries GR86/BRZ. The entire 2022 World Car of the Year award goes to the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which also collected the awards for the World Electric Vehicle of the Year 2022 as well as for the Automotive Design of the Year 2022.
Meanwhile, the title of Urban Car of the Year in the world in 2022 belongs to Toyota Yaris Cross, and Mercedes-Benz EQS was awarded World Luxury Car of the Year in 2022.
As the starting point for the e-tron GT range, the e-tron GT quattro packs a dual-motor powertrain consisting of a 238 PS front and a 435 PS rear motor for total system power. is 476 PS or up to 530 PS and 640 Nm in Launch Control in 2.5 seconds. With such a configuration, the 0-100 km/h sprint will pass in 4.1 seconds and its top speed is 245 km/h.
The e-tron GT quattro gets even more muscular wheels in the RS e-tron GT, packing an upgraded output of 598 PS and 830 Nm of torque or up to 646 PS in boost mode. Fully extended, the RS e-tron GT accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h.
