Athens was named the best place to stay in a frugal city on the continent, with prices down 15% since last year.
Post Office Travel Money’s analysis of 20 cities shows that the Greek capital beats many of the lower-cost traditional destinations in Eastern Europe in a range of typical travel costs.

Next is Venice, Italy for £457, Copenhagen, Denmark for £456, Dublin, Ireland for £436, Paris, France for £423 and Stockholm, Sweden for £421.
Nick Boden, head of Post Office Travel Money, said two out of five people planning to travel abroad this year will take a city break, making it the most popular holiday type. to go, so he advises travelers to “do your homework and check. price before booking”.
“Long-time favorites like Paris, Amsterdam and Venice may be top picks among the travelers we surveyed, but they’re also expensive places to visit and those who can being moved to a city with a lower cost of living could send their pound much higher,” he added.
