Five people were killed and more than 40 injured when a car is driven into a Christmas parade Sunday afternoon in Waukesha, Wisconsin, city officials said.
“These numbers may change as we gather more information. Many people have self-transported to hospitals in the area,” the city of Waukesha said in a statement. Posts on Twitter early Monday.
Witnesses described horror as they witnessed individuals being hit and lying on the ground after a red SUV plowed through a series of barricades and into a busy Main Street parade route. at about 4:39 p.m. local time.
Sheriff Daniel P. Thompson said officers are working with the Waukesha County Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the victim.
