Asteroids zooming towards Earth on May 1st! One is a 100-foot monster, the other two are a 45-foot giant: NASA

May 1, 2023 will see three asteroids approach Earth and they will come very close. Of these three asteroids, one is 100 feet large while the other two are 45 feet and 46 feet wide. According to NASA, any asteroid that comes within 4.6 million miles or 7.5 million kilometers from Earth, or larger than about 150 meters, is considered potentially hazardous.

Therefore, to stay alert and prepared to avoid any incidents and situations that may cause loss of life, NASA keep an eye on the movement of small planet, their speed, how far they will reach Earth, etc. The space organization uses telescopes and observatories like NEOWISE to track and study asteroids. It also uses a variety of ground-based telescopes such as the Atacama Large Millimeter/sublime Array (ALMA) located in the Antofagasta Region of the Atacama Desert in Chile for the same purpose.

Here’s everything you need to know about asteroids that will zoom toward the planet Earth on Monday, May 1.
