Artie’s Princess Sails Clear in Presque Isle Masters


For a horse that has been part of the control speed in each of her 11 starts, racing in seventh place that only four horses beat at the half-mile post would makes any sharp racer scratching their heads. Artie’s Princess was named the 2020 Sovereign Award winning female sprinter after capturing the Bessabarian Stakes (G2) and the Ruling Angel Stakes. A staunch mare, she won 7 of her 12 career starts.

The daughter of Ramsey’s 1st class winner, We Miss Artie, Artie’s Princess is the second foal in the Atlantic Stormkeeper mare breed. The dam, who died this year, produced two winners from three ponies for the race. Her youngest children are an avid sister to Artie’s Princess and a pony weaned by Gunman .

Surly Furious beat Presque Isle Mile Stakes

Two previous races on the card, Novogratz Racing Stables’ Surly Furious took $200,000 in Presque Isle Downs Mile shares for local coach Glenn Wismer.

Removed by Luis Saez, the Surly Furious sits on a favorite stalking ride Carpenter Call before plunging onto the rails on the final turn, winning a decisive 1/4.

4 year old son of Start up race 1 1/16 miles in 1:41.93.

Harlan real estate is the runner-up, one in the front Novo Sol in part three.
