Apple says its new watch can detect when you’re in a car accident
According to Ron Huang, Apple’s vice president of Sensors & Connectivity, the new Apple Watch Series 8 will be able to detect when a user has been in a car accident.
During the Apple event, he said the company has spent years researching car crashes, including frontal, side, rear-end and rollovers.
It can detect “exact moment of impact” using the watch’s barometer, GPS and microphone, and it can be used in the most common types of vehicles, according to Huang.
“We really hope you never need it, but feel a little safer every time you get in the car,” Huang said.
