The game Steamforged aims to create Elden Ring a sort of board game. The UK-based company announced that it is working on an adaptation of From Software’s 2022 hit. It intends to fund the adjustment through a Kickstarter-based crowdfunding campaignalthough the campaign is yet to launch.
In a post on its blog, Steamforged said Elden Ring the Board Game will select the player as Blurred. It will support both solo play and groups of up to four people. They will experience challenging games of fighting through “smart, dice-free combat”. They will also visit iconic locations in The Lands Between, and cross paths with characters and enemies from the game. These include enemies like Godrick the Grafted. There’s no word on pricing, release date, or even when the Kickstarter campaign will begin.
Elden Ring the Board Game will use miniatures in the play. Steamforge showed off a preview of its first design, based on Margit, The Fell Omen. Although technically an optional boss in Elden RingsMargit guards the entrance to Stormveil Castle, and is often one of the earliest bosses the player can face.
Steamforged Games has a history of crowdfunding board games, as well as adapting video games to the tablet format. It has produced board games based on Resident Evil, Dark Souls, and Horizon: Zero Dawn, among others. For myself Dark souls board game, it rolled out additional expansions focused on boss encounters and a new “core set” including Painted World of Airamis and Tomb of Giants.
Elden Ring: The Board Game is in the process of development. The video game is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PC. A two-volume art book Launched in Japan at the end of November 2022.
